Japan – IMPORT REGULATIONS
Documents and Information Required:
1. Copy of passport. Clear photocopy of the picture page and personal
data, Japanese entry stamp and Japanese visa required. Original letter on company letterhead may be submitted in lieu of Japanese visa if application will be/has been submitted to Japan Immigration Office. If returning Japanese National, customs will require photocopies of all pages of the passport.
2. Original Unaccompanied Declaration Form - 5360 – One page form, which
must be requested from the inbound flight crew of the passenger airline.
Two copies must be completed identically and submitted to the Customs Official at the airport of arrival. The Customs Official will stamp both copies and returning one to the customer. It is this original which we need to clear the shipment. A letter to customs may be submitted in place of this form, but it is recommended to obtain the Unaccompanied Declaration Form-5360.
3. Copy of work visa from country of origin if the foreign national is not
currently living in his / her country of nationality.
4. Keys of locked items (if not provided, lock will be broken)
5. Detailed list of wine and alcohol if shipped. We strongly suggest these
item are not included in air the shipment, as inspection and delays will cause additional charges. Placement into the sea freight shipment is advised.
6. Video cassette tape / DVD listing – approx number of tapes / dvd and
subject matter (movies, sports, children programs, etc.)
7. New articles listing with purchase receipts
*Note-In order to clear household goods duty free, the owner of the goods must be in Japan during the clearance process. We will need a copy of their arrival stamp.
Prohibited Items: 100% restriction
Firearms, swords, blowguns and ammunition – weapons in general
Pornographic materials
Meat products such as beef jerky, sausage, ham, etc.
Live plants
Items requiring quarantine certificates: rooted plants, animal furs, shell fish, and live animals
