Will I pay duty on my belongings going into Serbia?
Possibly yes, and this is where Serbia differs sharply from an EU move. Serbia has no general transfer of residence relief: its Customs Administration states that foreign citizens moving to Serbia may import household belongings after declaring them and paying the applicable import duties.
There are two routes to an exemption rather than one. Foreign citizens who obtain Serbian citizenship, asylum or approval for permanent residence may be exempt from import duties on household items, though not on motor vehicles, within one year of obtaining that status. Separately, foreign citizens with approved temporary residence who are in Serbia to perform a specific job under an employment contract may temporarily import household items, including a personal car, with full exemption for the duration of that work.
Which of those applies to you depends entirely on your residence route, so tell your coordinator what status you will hold before the inventory is finalised. These rules come from the Serbian Customs Administration and are worth confirming with them, because the published guidance is a few years old and duty is a cost you do not want to discover on arrival.
Does it matter whether my goods arrive in a van or a lorry?
For customs, yes. Serbian customs handles a small household shipment carried in a passenger vehicle at the border itself under a simplified procedure, with a list of the items in two copies and no full declaration. Anything arriving in a cargo van or a lorry is cleared at the competent customs office on a submitted declaration instead.
A household removal is the second case. That is not a disadvantage, it simply means the clearance happens at an inland customs office rather than at the barrier, and our agent lodges the declaration for you.
What is included in a removal to Serbia?

Is Serbia affected by the sanctions on Russia?
No. Serbia is a separate country in the Balkans, an EU candidate state, and it is not subject to UK financial sanctions. There is no barrier to moving your household goods there, and we quote and run the route normally.
Can I bring my car to Serbia duty free?
It depends on your residence route, and the two paths differ. The exemption for people granted citizenship, asylum or permanent residence specifically excludes motor vehicles. The temporary residence route for someone in Serbia on an employment contract does include a personal car. Check your status with your coordinator before you commit.
Can you move just a few pieces of furniture to Serbia?
Yes. A wardrobe, a sofa or a dozen boxes travel as a part load and you pay for the space they occupy. The customs declaration still applies to a small shipment arriving by lorry, so the paperwork is the same whether you send one room or six.
Can you pack for me?
Yes. Our packers wrap and box everything in export-grade materials and can unpack at the Serbian end. The inventory they produce is the document the customs declaration is built from, so it is worth having done properly on a non-EU route.
Will a lorry reach my property?
Where a full-size lorry cannot reach the door, or a city centre restricts vehicle size and delivery hours, the final leg transfers to a smaller shuttle vehicle. Parts of central Belgrade fall into that category, so flag the address at survey.
Do you offer storage if my Serbian paperwork is delayed?
