How Do European Removals Work?
We collect your belongings from your UK address, clear them through customs, and deliver them to your door in Europe by road. You can choose a dedicated vehicle for your move alone or a part load, sharing space and paying only for what you use. One coordinator handles the whole chain, and the quote covers collection, freight, paperwork and delivery.
Our European removals service is professional and affordable, tailored to eachcustomer’ss needs. We assign each customer a personal move coordinator to guide you through the European shipping process.
For our part-load groupage service, our removal trucks usually start in England, drive to France, then to Switzerland or Germany, then on to Denmark and Sweden, nd finally to Norway before taking a ferry. This is normally a 7 to 14 day trip, depending on the number of collections and deliveries in each country.
From there, we will handle the rest. All you need to do is call for a free, no-obligation quote, and we can begin the process. We’ll discuss what works best for you and your goods, whether it’s simple box-only European overseas shipping or full-wrapping European removal for your whole house. Either way, we’ve got you covered.
How long do European removals take?
Road freight across Europe typically takes 6 to 12 days from collection to delivery, depending on the destination and whether you book a dedicated vehicle or share one. A part load waits to be consolidated with other shipments, so it tends to sit at the longer end of that range. Where a full-size lorry cannot reach the door, or a city centre restricts vehicle size and delivery hours, the final leg transfers to a smaller shuttle vehicle.
What Can I Send When Shipping to Europe?
Almost anything legal to import: whole household contents, furniture, boxes, appliances and vehicles. Alcohol, tobacco and anything intended for trade or a profession fall outside the duty relief, and each destination sets its own prohibited list, which is why every country page has its own.
If you are shipping from the UK and need a European removals service, then Removals.co.uk can help. It may seem complicated, but our expert team makes it easy to ship to Europe. There

Reliable, efficient and responsive. This is the second time I have used Removals for an overseas move. I cannot fault them in any way. They guided me through the process so I knew exactly what to do and expect.
Verified customer, May 2026 – verified Trustpilot review
Good communication and very helpful from the beginning. The UK pick up driver was very helpful and worked so hard, as did the delivery drivers in Spain. All in all a good experience and I would not hesitate to recommend.
Teresa Knight, July 2026 – verified Trustpilot review
A very competitive price for a removal from England to France, and everything was on time as planned with Michelle and Debbie. The drivers were efficient and professional at all times. Most importantly, nothing was lost or damaged.

How Much Does It Cost for European Removal?
European removals are priced on the volume you send, the vehicle you choose and how easily a lorry can reach the door at both ends. A part load is the cheapest option because you pay for your space, not the whole vehicle. A free survey turns that into one written quote with nothing added later.
Moving your household items to Europe doesn’t need to cost a fortune. We offer a range of European removal services to suit every need and budget. Firstly, you will need to measure and quantify your items. Depending on how many items you want to send to Europe, we’ll decide whether a shared groupage or dedicated removal vehicle best suits your needs.
If you are only sending a bag to Europe, or using our box-only service, you can use part-load removals to Europe, where you only pay for the space your items occupy, keeping costs low. However, if you wish to ship a whole house to Europe, then you may opt for a sole-use vehicle.
Our sole-use vehicles come in a range of sizes, and we will advise which one best suits you. We can handle all loading and unloading door-to-door, ensuring our expert packing service uses the right materials. Plus, we are experienced in handling European customs upon arrival, so no need to worry.
Can I send a part load to Europe?
Yes, and for most European moves it is the cheaper option. Your belongings share a vehicle with other consignments, and you pay only for the space they take up rather than the whole lorry. It suits anything under roughly three bedrooms, a few rooms of furniture, or a consignment of boxes. European removals: frequently asked questions
How long do removals to Europe take?
Road freight typically takes 6 to 12 days from collection to delivery, depending on the destination and whether you book a dedicated vehicle or share one. A shared load waits for other consignments, so it sits at the longer end.
Do I pay duty on my belongings?
Usually no. Under the transfer of residence relief, you must have lived outside the EU for 12 continuous months, owned and used the items for at least 6 months before you left, and imported them within 12 months of establishing residence. Alcohol, tobacco and commercial vehicles are excluded.
What is a part load, and is it cheaper?
You share a vehicle with other consignments and pay only for the space your belongings take up, not the whole lorry. For most moves under three bedrooms it is the cheaper route. Our part load removals page sets out how it works.
Which European countries do you cover?
Every country in Europe. The flags above link to the destinations we move to most often; each has that country’s own customs rules and documents; any destination not shown is still available.
Will a lorry reach my property?
Where a full-size lorry cannot reach the door, or a town centre restricts vehicle size and delivery hours, the final leg transfers to a smaller shuttle vehicle. Flag access at the survey rather than on delivery day.
What documents will I need?
A passport copy, proof you left the UK, proof of your new address, an itemised, valued inventory and a declaration that the goods are used personal effects. Each country page lists what that destination asks for.
Can you pack for me?
Yes. Our packers wrap and box your belongings in export-grade materials, and we can unpack them at the other end; we can also deliver the boxes and materials beforehand if you would rather pack yourself.
