How do removals to Poland from the UK work?
Removals to Poland from the UK run door to door by road and typically take 6 to 12 days from collection to delivery. We pack and collect at your UK address, prepare the customs paperwork, and deliver to your Polish address. You can book a dedicated vehicle for your move alone or share one as a part load.
What is included in a removal to Poland?
Packing in export-grade materials, a labelled inventory of everything in the shipment, collection from your UK address, the road freight itself as a dedicated vehicle or a part load, the customs paperwork at both ends, and delivery to your Polish address. Unpacking and furniture placement are available on request.
One named coordinator handles the whole chain, from the survey through to the day your belongings are carried in, so there is one person to call rather than a chain of handovers.
Should I book a dedicated vehicle or a part load to Poland?
Book a dedicated vehicle if you are moving a whole house or need a firm delivery date, because the lorry carries only your belongings and travels straight to Poland. Choose a part load if you are moving less than that: your goods share the space, you pay only for what you use, and you wait a little longer while the vehicle fills.
Below roughly three bedrooms a part load is usually the sensible choice. Above it, a dedicated vehicle often costs little more and gives you the dates. Air freight is available where something is genuinely urgent, and is priced on weight rather than volume.
How long do removals to Poland take?
Road freight to Poland typically takes 6 to 12 days from collection to delivery, with a dedicated vehicle at the shorter end and a shared load at the longer end, because a shared load waits for other consignments before it departs.
Where a full-size lorry cannot reach the door, or a city centre restricts vehicle size and delivery hours, the final leg transfers to a smaller shuttle vehicle. Tell us about access at survey rather than on delivery day and the route is planned around it.
Do I pay duty on my belongings going into Poland?
Usually no, under the EU transfer of residence relief. You need to have lived outside the EU for at least twelve continuous months, to have owned and used the goods for at least six months before you left, and to import them within twelve months of establishing residence in Poland.
The relief does not cover alcoholic drinks, tobacco, commercial vehicles or equipment for a trade or profession. For twelve months after your goods are released they cannot be lent, hired out, used as security or sold without telling customs first. Your coordinator confirms the paperwork at quote stage.
What documents do I need for removals to Poland?
A valid passport copy for everyone moving, proof of your address in Poland, proof of your previous UK address, a detailed inventory listing everything in the shipment with values, and a signed declaration that the goods are personal effects and not for resale.
We prepare the shipping paperwork and tell you exactly which of your own documents to have ready and when. Getting the inventory right is the part that matters most, because a vague box count is the usual reason a shipment waits at the border.
What can I ship to Poland?
Household goods, furniture, boxes and personal effects, along with fragile and high-value items such as glassware, artwork and antiques, which are reinforced-packed or crated. Vehicles travel alongside a household shipment or on their own.
Aerosols, paints, solvents, gas bottles and fuel of any kind cannot be carried on any removal vehicle, and plants and anything with soil on it are restricted. Declare anything unusual at survey, because removing a banned item at the border costs far more than leaving it behind.
Which parts of Poland do you deliver to?
We deliver nationwide. Most moves go to Warsaw, Krakow, Lodz, Wroclaw, Poznan and Gdansk, and we also deliver to Szczecin, Bydgoszcz, Lublin, Katowice, Bialystok, Gdynia, Czestochowa, Radom, Torun and Rzeszow. If your destination is not on the list, ask and we will confirm the route on your quote.
What sets the price of removals to Poland?
Four things: the volume of your belongings, whether you book a dedicated vehicle or share one, how much packing you want us to do, and access at both ends, since a narrow street or an upper floor without a lift adds time to the job.
The survey measures all four and the quote lists them, so you can see what you are paying for rather than being handed a single figure. Quotes are free and carry no obligation.
What are the steps of a removal to Poland?
Five stages: a free quote based on your volume, destination and dates, a survey online or in person to check access and anything fragile, packing and a labelled inventory at your UK address, the road leg with customs cleared at both ends, then delivery in Poland with unpacking if you want it.
The survey is the stage that decides everything else. It measures how much you are actually moving, which sets the price, and it flags the practical problems early – a third-floor flat with no lift, a street a lorry cannot turn into, a piano nobody mentioned. Nothing about a move goes wrong more often than access.
Should I ship to Poland by road, sea or air?
Road freight is the usual choice for Poland and the best balance of speed and cost, as either a dedicated vehicle or a shared load. Sea freight suits a heavy consignment where the date is flexible. Air freight is the fastest and is priced on weight, so it suits a few urgent boxes rather than a household.
For almost every household move to Poland the answer is road, because the journey is short enough that a lorry beats a container on both time and cost. The real decision is not the method but whether you book the whole vehicle or share it, which is what sets your price and your delivery window.
Why choose Removals.co.uk for removals to Poland?
We have completed over 10,000 moves, we are rated 4.6 out of 5 from 110 reviews on Trustpilot, and we are members of Approved Movers in the UK, working only with overseas agents who are members of BAR or FIDI. Every move gets one named coordinator from the survey through to delivery.
We also run our own yard and storage at Riverside Industrial Estate in Fazeley, Tamworth, so if your dates at either end do not line up your belongings stay with us rather than being handed to a third party. Quotes are free, itemised and carry no obligation, and the figure you are given is the figure you pay.
Can my shipment arrive in Poland by sea?
It can. Poland has two large Baltic ports, Gdansk and Gdynia, so a container is a genuine option for a big consignment where the date is flexible. For most household moves road is still the better answer, because the lorry drives to your door and the sea route adds a port leg at each end.
Where sea freight earns its place is volume. If you are shipping the contents of a large house, or heavy items you are not in a hurry for, a container to Gdansk or Gdynia and an inland run from there can work out well. We quote both when the shipment is big enough for the comparison to matter.
One practical difference from most of our European routes: Poland is not in the euro. Prices, deposits and any local charges at the delivery end are in Polish zloty, so factor the exchange rate into your budget rather than assuming euro pricing.
Who clears my shipment at the Polish end?
Customs in Poland sits under the Ministry of Finance and its national revenue administration, and the declaration is lodged through the regional revenue offices by our agent at the Polish end rather than by you. You supply the inventory and the proof of your move; the lodging is handled for you.
The part worth planning for is the proof. Since the UK left the EU a British national moving to Poland is a third-country national, so the transfer of residence relief is claimed against evidence that you have genuinely moved: your Polish address, your previous UK address, and your residence documentation. The registration route for UK nationals is no longer the simple EU one, so check the current position on the GOV.UK living in Poland guidance before you book.
What we need from you does not change: the itemised inventory, the passport copies and the declaration that the goods are personal effects. Your coordinator confirms the exact Polish document list at quote stage, because it depends on which residence route you are on.

Removals to Poland: frequently asked questions
Will I be quoted in pounds or in zloty?
Your quote from us is in pounds sterling, and it covers the whole journey from your UK door to your Polish address. Poland is outside the euro, so anything you choose to buy or pay for locally once you arrive will be in zloty, and the exchange rate on the day is worth checking before you budget.
Do you deliver into Krakow and Gdansk city centres?
Yes, though the historic centres of both restrict vehicle size and delivery hours, so the final leg often transfers to a smaller shuttle vehicle. Tell us the street at survey. A flat in the old town is a planning question rather than a problem, provided we know before the lorry leaves the UK.
Can you move just a few pieces of furniture to Poland?
Yes. A wardrobe, a sofa or a dozen boxes travel as a part load on the same road service as a full house, so you pay for the space they occupy rather than for a vehicle. Each piece is wrapped and export-packed before it leaves your home.
Can you pack for me?
Yes. Our packers wrap and box everything in export-grade materials and can unpack at the Polish end, and we can drop the materials off beforehand if you would rather do it yourself. Either way it all goes on the inventory, because Polish customs need the itemised list.
Can I ship a car to Poland?
Yes, either with your household goods or on its own. Duty relief depends on having owned and used the vehicle before the move, and you will need to register it in Poland after it arrives. Our vehicle shipping page sets out how it works.
Can you store my things if my Polish completion slips?
Yes, at our own yard at Riverside Industrial Estate in Fazeley, Tamworth. Your belongings stay with us rather than going to a third party, and storage works either before the lorry departs or after it returns, which is what you want when a purchase date moves.
Is my shipment insured?
Our crews are fully insured, and transit insurance covering loss or damage on the journey is available as an option. Your quote sets out what the cover includes and what it costs, so you can decide before anything is collected.
